I'm currently a project manager doing business process re-engineering projects. I'm considering getting PMI certified and then trying to move from IT to the construction industry.
Why? I think I would like the structure (a better defined, repeatable process) and I'd like working on projects I can see and touch. As a woman I think dealing with the "old boy network" in the construction industry will be a big challenge but I'm not sure if that should be a show stopper.
Thoughts? Comments? Experiences moving to a new industry where your PM talents eased the transition?
