I live in Oakland, and have started going to an InDesign users group - it seems to be such a useful, interesting group - but not quite my area. I'd love to go to some kind of users group which discussed best practices for PM. Anybody have ideas?

Wed, May 25, 2005 - 11:47 AMHIya..
I'm enrolled in the PMP certification program at UC Berkeley Extension..it's a great program..
I have two more classes left to go and I may take a PMP exam prep class *might have to take it from DVC*...
Currently I'm out of work...anyone out there looking for IT project coordinator? I specialize in implementation/deployment projects although I could do SDLC

Re: PM face-to-face groups?
Thu, May 26, 2005 - 9:49 AMAre you referrring to Pam Dryer?... I actually did enroll in the Human Factors and Team Dynamics class with her..but I had a really hard time hearing her speak (I sat in the front of the class) and I just knew it wasn't going to work out so I dropped the class.
I just finished that class with Jim O'Donnell as the instructor.
So you may have seen me in Pam's class for the first night of class last year.
I have two more classes left to take: Risk Management and Control & Planning, I'm taking Risk Mgmt at the berkeley campus starting mid july with Suzanne Garrett. But I may not keep that class, if I get a job that's too far north or far south, then I'll have to wait until fall for another sat class. (being it's an eve class)
Thank you for the referrals :) I'll look them both up.. :) Are they both in San Francisco, or they do a lot of placements in the Bay area?

Re: PM face-to-face groups?
Thu, May 26, 2005 - 9:59 AMYep, Pam Dryer. Wasn't sure what she was teaching this semester. I actually work with her - she's the project management methodology compliance cop for our company. That's a job I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I'm not surprised that she's losing her voice some days.
The Hicks office is in Walnut Creek but they get openings all around the bay area. Mostly 6 month contracts, but that is the nature of the biz these days. Good luck! -

Re: PM face-to-face groups?
Thu, May 26, 2005 - 10:07 AMYour name Carl? Shall I use your name as a referral?? (your last name too)...
Thanks for the contact information.
yeah..Being that I have a slight hearing impairment, I knew that it was gonna be a huge struggle to keep up with the rest of the class and decided to drop it. It was a hard decision because I felt she'd be a great instructor.
Wow..difficult job!!!...Bet she's awesome at work!
